Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to improve self confidence, gain work experience and new skills, make new friends and get involved in your local community. If you need to update your CV and references, volunteering can help you do this. Many organisations rely on the skills of volunteers to deliver enhanced services, support people or look after the environment.

If people you are working with are interested in volunteering, you can contact any of the organisations listed here. The main point of contact is the Volunteer Centre Edinburgh , but there is a range of local services that can also assist.

People who might be worried about barriers to volunteering, such as disability, having a criminal record, or English being a second language, can contact Volunteer Centre Edinburgh for advice and support.

Volunteering is a great way to improve or enhance employability, and some of the organisations listed in the Employment or Learning sections may also be able to provide volunteering support and advice. See also “You may also be interested in…” on this page.
